Hi, I’m Jen Rhines. I’ve been competing as a professional runner for over 20 years now. In the sports world conventional wisdom says that you must slow down with age. I’ve refused to fall in line with this preordained path. I bucked the system and ran all of my best performances in my mid thirties. I represented the United States in 3 Olympic Games, in 3 different events: the 10,000 meters, the marathon and the 5000 meters. I did it in the “wrong” order. I moved up to the marathon and then back down to the 5000 meters for my last (and best) Olympic performance. I’ve learned over the years that it’s what you believe that shapes your reality. You have the ability to create your own paradigm. Age doesn’t have to be a determinant.
